Abstract

This paper explores the position of the book of Ezekiel in different biblical canons, as attested in ancient sources and manuscript traditions. Its placement reflects a hermeneutical tension between the historical memory of the exile and the eschatological projection of the future. The analysis of Jewish and Christian lists is complemented by a consideration of the motif of “dwelling securely” in Ezek 38–39. In this way, the study shows that the book can be read, with exegetical grounding, both in historical and apocalyptic keys, pointing to a hermeneutical plurality already present within the canonical tradition.
