Resumen

El período que va desde la Edad del Bronce Tardío hasta la Edad del
Hierro II en el Levante meridional (ca. 1600-600 a. e. c.) ha sido clave para la arqueología
siro-palestina pues, con base en el relato bíblico, se lo considera el momento
cuando se produjo el establecimiento de los israelitas y la conformación de
la Monarquía Unida, seguida por los reinos de Israel y de Judá. El objetivo de este
artículo es ofrecer un resumen actualizado sobre las características y los cambios
en los sistemas de asentamiento urbano durante dicho período, para lo cual se analizan
evidencias arqueológicas y epigráficas.
